C-CRIT pronounced as secret is a trio from Cape Town, Bontehuewel to be exact. Bontehuewel currently known for being plagued by gangsterism but has a rich history of political leaders, strong community leaders and also very good musicians. The area is surrounded with very good musical organizations, like the Jazz Yard academy that we will try to cover at a later stage.
The idea of C-CRIT came when these guys felt that they have been performing for many years doing cover songs of many overseas artist and that it made it difficult for them to create their own sound, they felt the need to change that, they felt they needed to work on something original and they felt the right time to start was now.
Ghishaam Paulsen “we understand that finding your sound is a journey but if we start now we will get there at the right time”
The individuals in the band has been producing music, writing and coaching at different coons and also been singing for more the 15 years, however they feel the greatest challenge is the support of the community.
Zain Playton ”people might not want to listen to your original song as they would prefer to be listening to one of the international radio hits”
Things is changing at a rapid pace as radio stations are becoming local friendly, Zaheer Otto points out “the time is right”
When asked about the goals of the band the response was quick and clear.
“We not going to wait for a record deal in fact many years ago we were offered that but again we weren’t free to sing the songs we wanted to, the goal is to tell our story through our music to hear the crowd sing to something we wrote. It’s a dream but soon it will become reality” Zaheer Otto said.
There is so much more to write as energy and motivation is high for the trio but they said not to divulge too much as the rest, is a C-CRIT.
